Catraia
Catraia is a fishing and cargo boat of the Tage River in Portugal – dating from ca 1940. With its great storage capacity there is no doubt that it is a boat designed for transporting goods – but that doesn’t prevent it from being richly decorated! Its naive ornaments are typical of the Tage (“Bote do Tejo”). One of its owners changed the traditional decoration. He painted an angel over the space that used to be occupied by a toreador on the bow! Look at the ornament on the partition of the back chamber: a simple landscape, magnificently drawn with primary colours.
