Daisy, English “dinghy” boat for leisure
This canoe called Daisy is an English “dinghy” dating from ca 1895. The rudders could be operated remotely by means of a rope system called “watch puller”. The mast allowed for the rigging of a small dipping lug. The hull is lined with clapboards, a technique consisting of superimposing boards. Daisy is made from mahogany wood from Central America. It is a leisure boat, very fashionable for London’s high society of the epoch. Daisy arrived in Brittany at the end of the 19th century, bought by a Parisian doctor, who built a secondary home on Bréhat, Côtes d’Armor.
