Saint Lazare
Built in 1902, the Saint Lazare is typical for the Mediterranean Sea. Its forms, which are most certainly ancient, can be traced back as far as the 18th century. Its name comes from the fiddlehead jutting out from its stem which sailors referred to as the “pig’s snout”. This boat was used for small-scale trammel fishing for tuna and sole and line fishing for mackerel, cuttlefish, etc. Manned by a crew of 2 or 3, it is manoeuvred by means of oars in fishing areas and by means of a lateen sail at sea where it is easily manoeuvrable.
