Marie Louise - Carantec cutter
The cutter is a typical fishing boat for the North of Brittany. The rocky areas surrounding the mouth of the Morlaix river, where Marie Louise sailed, demanded a strong, efficient vessel. One of its major features is its sails. The power of the large sail, the fineness of the front sails, the 16 staysail and the jib, make Marie Louise a rapid boat, built to sail against the wind. It is capable of laying down long lines in winter and lobster pots in summer. Oars are used for extra precision in order to capture dogfish, conger eels and skate.
