Punt on the lake of Grand-Lieu – fishing boat, 1960
This Punt was used on the lake of Grand-Lieu south of Nantes up until 1988. It was constructed on the basis of a flat bottom, the sole, enhanced with oak planking on either side. Inside there is a tank (the “come”) which walls are perforated, allowing for the circulation of water and the preservation of fish, particularly eels. The original sail consists of a rectangular canvas hoisted on two poles forming a V. This combines the advantages of the square sail with those of the fore and aft sail. Oars are used in deep waters in winter.
