The tuna boat
With its arms “in the air”, its outriggers, the tuna boat is easily recognisable. It catches tuna with lines attached to outriggers, the two big poles of 15 to 20 meters that you see attached to each side of the mast. This fishing method is the result of a reconversion following the decline of sardine fishing. The tuna boats are much bigger than the sardine luggers. Tuna is caught far from the Brittany coastlines and one needs larger storage holds to transport the results of a fishing campaign of several weeks.
