Propulsion engine
This is the propulsion engine of an English trawler from the 1920s/1930s, called Katie-Ann. It’s a Diesel 4 phase, 18 cylinders, 152 horse power. Katie-Ann was first fitted out for sailing and then refitted to accommodate the engine. Motorised, Katie-Ann was led by a crew of 4 men sailing off the coast of Swansea, to fish in the Bristol Channel and the Irish Sea. It also comprised a range of auxiliary equipment: fishing winches, pumps, dynamos, etc. The engine also operated the mechanical auxiliaries, winches, capstans and supported the electrical equipments.
