The marks

At the corner of the slipway, on the right, you can see a bunch of wooden poles, topped with a small brightly coloured flag. This is what we call the marks.
Usually weighed down by a pebble, the marks were moored or attached to the end of the fishing pot. They float on the surface of the water so that they could be seen and recognised from far away. Manufactured by the fishermen, each boat adopted its own colour combination.
